The first information about the holy temple is from 1544. In the monastery in 1822 the first printing workshop for icons in Bulgaria worked. There is information that there was a craft workshop of the famous Chiprovtsi school for church utensils and jewelry. The history of the monastery as a cult place can be traced back to the Thracians, who left traces in the numerous caves around. Near the monastery there is a rock wreath from the foundations, on which gushes a karst spring, and on its western wall are preserved remains of frescoes.
How to get there: 12 km. from the town of Vratsa to the town of Montana, on a marked deviation with a brown information board. The highway reaches the gates of the monastery.
